Chief Eruba Dimgba, member representing Abia on the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), says he places priority on job creation and infrastructural development.
Dimgba, who was honoured by Umuodeke Community, Umuaka Asa in Ukwa West for his new appointment, promised to equip the youths and women in the area with necessary skills to compete with their peers from other climes.
He assured the people that he would make a difference in the implementation of the budget, both in the local government area and the state as a whole.
The commissioner thanked the Federal Government for his appointment, while pledging his commitment towards achieving the goal of the board in the area.
“We recently assumed duties after elections, thereafter, we were inaugurated and our job has begun, fulltime.
“Very soon Asa, Ukwa West and Abia, will sing a song of joy,” he said.
Earlier in their remarks, different stakeholders in the council area lauded the Federal Government, for finding their son worthy for the exalted position.
An elated community leader, Chief Ndubueze Nwaoloziri, said that Dimgba was “first in the history” of the community to occupy such an office.
He advised him not only to attract
infrastructural development, but also create job opportunities for idle youths in the community.
“As the sixth Ukwa West son that has occupied this position, we are pleading that you consider our graduates in your development programmes.
“Some of your colleagues left the office without attracting a single project to their communities, leaving their communities currently unaccessible, especially in this rainy season, ” he said.
Also, Chief Tony Nwaubani, former member representing Ukwa West Constituency, (2011- 2019), said that Dimgba had already shown sterling quality in development, to the Federal Board of NDDC.
According to him, Dimgna while a Director in the Commission, rehabilitated Obehie – Okeikpe, which had, in many years been a deathtrap.
Chief Blessing Adokie, who retired as a Director in the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, described Dimgba’s appointment as a square peg in a square hole.
He, however, condemned the negligence of the local government area in infrastructural development in the state.
Adokie said that it is the only oil producing area in the state, but ironically deprived of good road, potable water and other basic infrastructure by successive governments.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the highlight of the occasion was the conferment of chieftaincy title of “Ezi-Ogor 1” on Dimgba.(NAN)
