Ex-lawmaker commends Tinubu, Otti on Federal Secretariat in Abia

Former Member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Sam Onuigbo has commended President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Alex Otti for the award of the contract for the construction of Federal Secretariat, Umuahia.
Onuigbo who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia on Thursday, lauded Tinubu for his commitment to equity and all round development of the country.
The board member representing the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission, also praised Otti for placing the development of the state above party politics.
Gov. Alex Otti
Onuigbo, who represented Ikwuano/ Umuahia North/Ikwuano South Federal Constituency in the eight and ninth Assembly, regretted the delay in the project which he attracted since Oct. 2019.
The chieftain of All Progressives Congress blamed the delay on the politics of placing party above the people exhibited by the immediate past sate government.
He expressed gratitude to Otti whom he said had shown early that his focus was on the development of Abia, not minding the political party of the person attracting the developmental project.
According to him, now that the bottleneck of self-sabotage has been removed by Governor Otti, Abia will in no time have its long overdue Federal Secretariat, including the benefits derivable therefrom.
Onuigbo thanked HRH Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna, the Traditional Ruler of Ekeoba Kingdom, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA., for his tenacity and cooperation in ensuring that the project materialises not only for the benefit of Ekeoba people, but also for the state in general.
He therefore called on the traditional ruler to reassure his community of the commitment of the state government to paying the necessary compensation, and therefore allow contractors to get to work.
Meanwhile, Director-General, Abia League of Professionals, Mr Sonny Iroche, has commend Onuigbo for being in the fore front of the project.
“He got my humble self involved in speaking to the authorities concerned, including Eze Iheanyi Nwokenna of Ekeoba on the actualization of the project.
“He made several entreaties to Ministers of Works  and Housing, especially, the immediate past Minister, Babatunde Fashola,” he said.
