The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia Command, has arrested a Chinese national in Umunneochi Local Government Area(LGA), for allegedly  operating a quarry on a site belonging to another entity.
A statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASC II Doreen Udugwu, said that he was arrested alongside another person involved in the business.
The quarry site at Umunneochi LGA.
Udugwu stated that the discovery and arrest followed a complaint filed by the original owner of the site, Jinloys Nigeria Limited.
She stated that the owner had complained that the Chinese had illegally occupied his legally assigned site with license No. 22284QL and  46404QLS without his consent.
Udugwu said that the command, after a sustained surveillance,  raided the site located in Obichioke Stone Land in Mbiribo Village of Uru Lokpaukwu Autonomous Community, Umuchieze, Umunneochi LGA.
She quoted the Commandant, Usman Alfadarai, as saying that the illegal act would not be condoned in a country where the present administration “is serious about revolutionalising the economic sector to make it easy for businesses to flourish.”
According to her, the Commandant vowed to continue working tirelessly to bring all operators in the extractive industry to do the right thing to avoid any breakdown of law and order.
“The Commandant appreciated the support received from the state government and the general public for their continued support and cooperation,” she stated.
