14 Brigade conducts free surgical operation in Abia
The 14 Brigade Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Ohafia,, Abia has conducted a free surgical operation of one Mrs Chioma Oruoegbulam, a native of Isuochi in Umuneochi Local Government Area of the state.
Capt. Innocent Omale, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the brigade, in a statement on Thursday said that the surgical excision of a huge lipoma was successfully conducted on her.
Omale stated that the surgical operation was led by Capt. Obinna Amadi and other medical experts on Wednesday, at the 14 Brigade Medical Centre.
According to him, the surgery was directed by the brigade’s Commander, Brig.-Gen. Olusola Diya, as part of Army’s efforts to sustain its existing Civil-Military Cooperation activities within its area of responsibility.
“The 25-year-old mother of three was diagnosed with a huge lipoma around her back, which, according to her, has been there for the past three years.
“However, due to the high cost of the procedure, she could not undergo the surgery.”
Omale stated that an overwhelmed Oruoegbulam expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Diya and the Army for the kind gesture.
“I’m at a loss for words to appreciate this incredible gesture,” she was quoted to have said.
Omale noted that the patient further gave an account of how the Army rescued her last year when she was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
“The patient is in stable condition at the medical facility and recuperating to treatment,” Omale stated.
