A former presidential aspirant, Dr Cosmos Ndukwe, has lauded President BolaTinubu, over his choice of Board of Directors of South East Development Commission (SEDC).
Ndukwe in statement on Monday, expressed confidence in the capacity of the nominees to deliver “considering their antecedents and wealth of experience.”
He was a presidential aspirant in the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in 2023.
Ndukwe, who recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC)
described the nominees as “competent hands with track record of efficiency.”
The former Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, expressed optimism that the infrastructural deficit in the South-East geo-political zone would soon be addressed.
Tinubu had last week, forwarded the list of the nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
The list comprises former Minister for Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu(Chairman) and Mark Okoye (Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer).
Also on the board are: former member of the House of Representatives, Mr Toby Okechukwu (Executive Director of Projects) and former Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Mr Stanley Ohajuruka (Executive Director of Finance) among others.
His statement reads in part: “I have no iota of doubt that with the quality of members of the SEDC board, the President’s vision for South East development will be realized.
” They will use their wealth of experience and expertise to actualise the Commission’s mandate,” he stated.
” We now have a Commission that will address the issues of marginalisation and infrastructural dilapidation in South East.
“President Bola Tinubu has engraved himself on the minds of our people by signing the SEDC Act into law which his predecessors could not do.”(NAN)
