Foundation donates to indigent widows, widowers, under-privileged in Abia communities

Umuchieze (Abia), Aug. 12, 2023 (NAN) The Ivyline Care Foundation on Saturday donated foodstuffs, household items and empowerment materials to indigent women, widows, widowers, under-privileged and youths in Abia.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items were donated by the Founder of the non-governmental organisation, Dr Evangeline Ozonyiri.

In a speech during the distribution of the items, Ozonyiri said the gesture was part of her contributions to alleviate the plight of the under-privileged in society.

She said that her foundation had engaged in donating to the poor for the past eight years.

According to her, as a single mother, I know what it means to wake up and you don’t have food for your children to eat.

“Our society is not so nice to single mothers, widows and the less privileged.

“I have taken it upon myself with the little I can afford and since this is our August Meeting, I decided to celebrate our women,” Ozonyiri, an Ambassador for Youth and Development said.

In a remark, the President-General of Umuchieze, Chief Peters Ogbukwe, expressed gratitude to the foundation for helping the needy in the community over the years.

Also, Dr Alice Onu, the President-General, Women Wing of Leru, thanked the foundation for the numerous empowerments to the people.

NAN reports that the donation included food items, household items, sewing machines, grinding machines, mattresses, wrappers, building materials, farm tools and insecticides, among others.

NAN  further reports that the beneficiaries were drawn from Leru, Lokpaukwu, Lokpanta and Lekwesi communities in Umuchieze, Umunneochi Local Government Area of the state.
