The Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissociated itself from Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu’s comment on Gov. Alex Otti.
Kalu had reportedly suggested that Otti of Labour Party will be re-elected in 2027.
The party in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Uche Aguoru on Friday, said Kalu is entitled to his personal opinion.
It stated that his remarks do not reflect the party’s official position.
The APC described the statement as unfortunate and misleading, stressing that it
contradicts members’ resolve to rescue Abia.
The party insisted it remains united and focused with a target to win the 2027 governorship and all elections.
APC claimed Abia people have suffered under the current administration, adding that voters are ready for a credible alternative.
The party questioned ₦112 billion allegedly spent on “smart schools”.
It said impact of the projects is not visible statewide.
The party noted that civil servants will demand to know why the full implementation of the ₦70,000 national minimum wage and other allowances due to them has remained a challenge.
APC claimed that the state gets over ₦40 billion monthly allocation.
The statement read in part: “Retirees will demand their gratuities and pensions which they were denied and forced into signing off and will demand for justice at the ballot box.
“The electorate will seek to know the whereabouts of the over 800 billion Naira allocations accruing to the local government councils.
“They will insist that every kobo meant for grassroots development is transparently accounted for.
“Our youths will ask questions about the alleged ₦6.5 billion recreational facility that exists only on social media.”
The party also queried over ₦800 billion LG allocations.
According to APC, 2027 will be about accountability and transparency.
The party urged members to remain focused and undistracted.
It said individual opinions will not derail its mission.
APC expressed confidence of victory for President Bola Tinubu, even as it targets all three Senate, eight House of Reps seats.
The party also aims for 24 House of Assembly seats, adding that its governorship candidate, Dr Eric Opah, will win the election.
