Umuahia, Oct. 29, 2026 (NAN) The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has discharged 1,343 of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ corps members deployed to Abia, after completing one-year national service.
The low-key passing-out ceremony was held on Thursday at the Umuahia North Local Government (LGA) headquarters.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise was conducted simultaneously across the 17 LGAs of the state with issuance of Certificates of National Service.

The State Coordinator, Mr Yunusa Tanimu, congratulated the outgoing corps members on behalf of NYSC management for completing their service.
He commended them for their dedicated, committed and patriotic service to the nation in the last one year.
Tanimu said the corps members made indelible contributions in education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructural development across the state.
He also lauded their roles in Community Development Service, particularly group projects that added value to host communities.
According to him, their service has endeared NYSC to Nigerians, especially Abia residents who benefited directly from their contributions.

The coordinator urged them to sustain the patriotic zeal and virtues of selflessness, honesty, dedication and hard work beyond service.
“Leadership starts now, whether as entrepreneurs, professionals or community leaders, and not only as future political leaders.
“You should leverage skills acquired under the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme to explore opportunities,” Tanimu advised.
He encouraged them to start small, add value, understand market dynamics and build competitive brands.
He cited examples of global entrepreneurs and leaders who overcame repeated failures through resilience and belief in themselves.

The coordinator also urged the corps members to embrace ICT and the digital economy for legitimate opportunities.
He assured them that NYSC remained committed to their welfare even after service through guidance and empowerment information.
