Brig. Gen. Ahmad Dikko has officially assumed office as the 18th Commander of 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Ohafia, Abia.
A statement issued by Capt. Mazinho Attah, the Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, said that Dikko took over from Brig. Gen. Hassan Bello.
It stated that the taking over ceremony, a routine tradition in the Nigerian Army, was attended by the Chief of Staff, commanding officers, staff officers, and Regimental Sergeant Major of the Brigade.
In his address, Dikko assured personnel of his determination and commitment to uphold professionalism and teamwork within the command.
He pledged to sustain the unit’s cohesion and reaffirmed his commitment in positioning the Brigade towards achieving the Chief of Army Staff command philosophy.
” There is no organisation that describes the philosophy of life as the Nigerian Army,” he said.
Dikko reiterated the need for officers to embrace timeliness as the key to project the unit, family, Nigerian Army as well as the nation at large.
In his farewell remarks, Bello expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu for the opportunity to serve in that capacity.
He commended all officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their loyalty, dedication, and collective efforts, which he said were instrumental in the successes achieved during his tenure.
Bello also emphasised the need for camaraderie that foster team spirit and urged personnel to extend the same cooperation and commitment to his successor.
The symbolic lowering of Bello command flag and the hoisting of Dikko’s own marked the formal transfer of authority.
