The Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared former member of House of Representatives, Chief Sam Onuigbo, as the leader of the party in Ikwuano Local Government Area (LGA)

This followed a motion moved by Mr Ifeanyi Anyiegbu and seconded by Chidinma Oscar and Elder Emmanuel Okezie at a stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday.

Onuigbo, a two-term representative for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, was unanimously endorsed by all the stakeholders present, after his nomination was put to a voice vote.

The meeting which had representatives from the 10 wards in the LGA, was in line with the directive of the state party leader, Dr Benjamin Kalu, who is also the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives

Recall that stakeholders from the 17 LGAs in the state had on Sunday affirmed Kalu as the party leader through a unanimous voice vote.

Thereafter, Kalu had directed the people to choose the party leaders in their various LGAs.

In his response, Onuigbo who represents South-East on the Board of North East Development Commission, expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.

He commended them for their unity, support, and commitment to the growth of the party in Ikwuano LGA and the state at large.

Onuigbo urged the stakeholders to prioritise unity and avoid actions capable of weakening internal cohesion.

“We all must wan to join hands as Renewed Hope Partners, to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, come 2027,” Onuigbo said.
