The Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Ahmad Dikko, has reiterated the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to strong inter-agency collaboration in Abia to tackle evolving security challenges and safeguard lives and property.
Dikko spoke on Wednesday when he received
Mr Chukwuemeka Odimba, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia Command, at the Brigade’s Headquarters, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, Ohafia.
In a statement issued after the visit, the Commander reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to supporting the Corps in the state in all appropriate capacities.
He said that the commitment included the provision of operational backup and necessary logistics to enhance the effective execution of its operations.
He commended the NSCDC for the professionalism and commendable conduct of its personnel in the discharge of their duties.
Dikko clarified that the Army’s role remains to provide required support that enables relevant security and civil agencies, including the NSCDC, to carry out their statutory responsibilities effectively.
He further lauded the contributions of the NSCDC during joint security operations, particularly cordon and search operations, and called for the sustenance of existing synergy between both agencies and other stakeholders.
Dikko assured the NSCDC Commandant that the Brigade’s manoeuvre commanders and Operation CRUSH elements remain on standby to provide timely support whenever required, in line with efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.
Earlier, Commandant Odimba described the Nigerian Army as an indispensable partner in the execution of the Corps’ mandate.
He noted that the NSCDC is facing increasing operational demands due to a surge in security challenges, including land disputes, illegal mining, and communal rivalries across the state.
The Commandant therefore solicited sustained collaboration with the Brigade, stressing that partnership with the Nigerian Army is critical for the Corps to effectively address the challenges.
