The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Abia on Thursday held a passing-out ceremony for 740 members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream One across the state.
The event featured the distribution of Certificates of National Service at the zonal level across the 17 Local Government Areas( LGAs).
The sample distribution was conducted at the NYSC Zonal Office in Umuahia North LGA.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Yinusa Tanimu, congratulated them on the successful completion of their service year on behalf of the Director General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, and the NYSC management.
“Today you have reached yet another significant milestone in your journey towards greatness.
“You have reached this stage of readiness to undertake even greater responsibilities of contributing towards the actualisation of our quest for national development,” Tanimu said.
He commended the corps members for their contributions to the development of Abia and Nigeria at large through service in education, healthcare, agriculture, technology and other sectors.
“You have all undertaken your assignment with diligence, a high level of patriotism and commitment. For that we celebrate you.
“Many of you also made impact on communities through the Community Development Service, mostly through group undertakings, and you have made remarkable impacts,” he said.
The Coordinator urged them to continue to uphold the virtues of patriotism, selflessness, dedication and commitment to national development, noting that service to the country does not end with NYSC.
“As a scheme, we take interest in your personal progress. That is why we have the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, programme in place.
“Many of you have learned vocations and acquired entrepreneurial skills. We expect you to go and exploit opportunities in the entrepreneurial world so that you will be self-employed and be wealth creators,” he said.
He advised the outgoing corps members that the job market is highly competitive and that they must strive for self-development, hard work and honesty to succeed.
He further encouraged them to understand market dynamics, be resilient, and not be afraid to start small, citing global brands that began as modest ventures.
In recognition of exceptional service, NYSC presented a letter of commendation to Blessing Ayodele with state code AB/25B/0668.
It is for her outstanding dedication and invaluable contributions to the successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, Advocacy Programme as a Development Knowledge Facilitator during the 2025 Batch ‘B’ service year.
